William "Bill" F. Walker, 72, of Rockford died at 8:47 p.m. Friday, Sept. 2, 2011, at OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center. Born Dec. 7, 1938, in Dyce, Ark., son of Willie and Lola Walker. Served in the U.S. Army from 1956 to 1958. Retired from Rockford Powertrain in 1991. He was an avid Bears, Bulls and Cardinals fan. Bill loved visiting family and friends in Arkansas, Tennessee and Tunica, Miss., as well as spending time with friends at the OTB. He is survived by daughter, Shelly (Glenn) Clinton of Rockford; grandchildren, Dustin Clinton of San Diego, Evan Clinton of Portland, Ore., and Breanne Clinton of Rockford; sisters, Velva (Buiel) Robinson of Loves Park and Sue Taylor of Greenville, Tenn.; numerous nieces and nephews; former spouse and special friend, Charlotte Walker of Rockford; and dog Charlie. Predeceased by parents; siblings, twin brother James Walker, Delores Graves, Carolyn Schmit and Ronnie Walker. Memorials may be made to a charity or organization of your choice in Bill's name. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Road, Rockford, preceded by visitation from 11 a.m. to service time; Pastor Gordy Smith will officiate.
