William H. Evans, "Bill," age 76 of Rockford, Illinois, passed away on August 8, 2026, peacefully.

Born to William and Mildred Evans, Bill grew up in Rockford with his beloved older sister Pam and graduated from West High School in 1968. He later married his great love Beverly (Reid) Evans, and together they shared a beautiful life full of love and laughter until she passed away in 2013. He is survived by his sons, Nathan (Cristina) and Shawn (Krista) Evans, his six grandchildren, whom he adored, sister-in-law Alice (Don) Houck and brother-in-law Jim (Tracy) Reid, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Bill graduated from NIU with an art degree, but later settled into a family counseling career where he happily spent 30+ years dedicated to helping families' in difficult times.

In his free time, Bill built Lego, mastered puzzles, and golfed/bowled with friends. He had a life long passion for nature and preserving it. He spent countless hours gardening, recycling, sightseeing national parks, and skimming through nature magazines. Additionally, he was captivated by the arts. He frequented art festivals, with intention just to view, but always ventured home with something in hand. Bill had a penchant for playful antics and unexpected comments that could always make everyone in the room laugh.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many. He will be greatly missed.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Grace Funeral Service, 4301 North Main Street in Rockford. Visitation will begin at 11 AM, followed by a service at noon, with a reception to follow immediately after.
