Obituary

William "Bill" Bremer, 70, of Lake Summerset passed away peacefully on March 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born May 14, 1954 in Rockford; son of Edwin and Carol (Ditzler) Bremer. Bill was a graduate of Winnebago High School, class of 1972. In his early years, Bill was a talented trumpet player and a former member of the Phantom Regiment Drum & Bugle Corps. He also enjoyed playing with his high school friends in "The Group Effort".

Bill's greatest joy in life was his family. He was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Sally, with whom he shared nearly 50 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. He was a proud and loving father to Andria (Justin) Savara of Rockford, MI, Justin Bremer of Aurora, IL, and Jacob (Megan) Bremer of Winnebago, IL. Bill was a deeply adored Papa to his eight grandchildren, Felicity, Caleb, Jonah, and Henry Savara and Elizabeth (Ellie), Liam, Alexandria (Alex), and Callie Bremer, who were the light of his life. He is also survived by his sisters, Susan (Bryan) Kloster, Carol Ann (Scott) Aultman, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, extended family, and his nephew, Ian Aultman. Bill's love and dedication to his family were unwavering, and his presence will be forever missed.

One of Bill's favorite places was the family cabin in Hazelhurst, Wisconsin, where he found peace and happiness fishing on the lake and spending time with loved ones. He treasured every moment in the Northwoods.

Beyond his role as a family man, Bill dedicated 28 years of his life as a firefighter for the City of Rockford Fire Department. During this time he served as a Driver/Engineer and was a member of IAFF Local 413. He served with bravery, integrity, and a deep commitment to protecting others. His firefighting career was not just a job, but a reflection of his character-selfless, strong, and always willing to help those in need.

Bill's legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew him. His warmth, wisdom, and laughter will be remembered in every shared story, every family gathering, and every moment spent together.
