Wesley Ross Larson, age 94, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2025 in Rockford, Illinois, with family members by his side.
Born in Madison, Wisconsin on January 10, 1931 to Stanley and Helen Larson. Wesley graduated from Madison West High School, attended Wisconsin Electronics School and served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He married Lois Anne Wright of Stoughton, Wisconsin on November 3rd, 1951.
They moved to Rockford in 1955, where they bought a home on Robey Avenue and raised their family of 4 children. Wes had a long career repairing televisions, ultimately co-owning Larson Steiner Electronics. Lois and Wes were avid family campers, and Wes volunteered as a Boy Scout leader for many years. After retiring in 1990, Wes and Lois travelled in their RV trailer for much of the next 20 years, sometimes hosting campgrounds in Illinois, Wisconsin, Montana, Arizona and Texas. They then spent many years in an apartment in Machesney Park, where Wes became his wife's dedicated caregiver until her death from Alzheimer's in 2016, days after their 65th wedding anniversary
Wes was a loyal Packers fan and enjoyed camping, fishing, genealogy, and playing cards with family and friends.
Wes was preceded in death by his wife Lois, sister Geri Voeck, and grandson Eric Larson. He is survived by his four children Gary (Debbie) Larson, Linda (Lloyd) Ramsby, Bob (Nancy) Larson, and Brian (Mia) Larson, 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Northern Illinois Hospice or to the Eric Larson Youth Hockey Scholarship fund.
The family would like to acknowledge the staff of Northern Illinois Hospice and Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center for the care they provided in their father's final months.
Memorial Visitation on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 1 pm. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N. Main St. Rockford; followed by a memorial service at 2 p.m. Pastor Bill Dahlberg will officiate. Private interment in Sunset Memorial Gardens. Share a memory or condolence at www.graceFH.com .
