Walter George Seifrid, 84, of Aurora died on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 10:55 p.m. at Alpine Fireside in Rockford. He was born on October 22, 1927 in Aurora, son of Henry and Bertha (Petereit) Seifrid. Graduated from East Aurora High School in 1945. Served in the US Navy. United in Marriage to Donna Culhane on July 9, 1955 in Aurora. Walter was formerly employed at the CB&Q Railroad. He was a 25 year member of the Aurora Fire Department and worked for SECO Sales of Aurora. He was an accomplished woodworker, avid collector, enjoyed gardening and fishing. He was a former member of the Moose Club, and volunteered for over 10 years at the Fox Valley Crisis Line. He also worked as a crossing guard for schools in Aurora. He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Survived by his children, Barbara Schug, of Waterbury, CT, Richard (Kaye) Seifrid, of Big Rock, Janet Locke of Roscoe, Laura (Randy) Van Etten, John Seifrid both of Aurora; grandchildren; Brian Schug, Joanne (Alfie) Jijon, Jeanette Carter, Richard (Jolyce) Seifrid, Lisa Seifrid, Steven Locke, Adam (Jessica) Locke, Lynette, Rudy, and Emmelia Van Etten; 8 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friends, Connie, Larry, Cindi, and JoAnne. Preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Donna in 1982; granddaughter, Marcia Schug; and seven sibings. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church; 550 Fourth Avenue, Aurora; officiating Rev. Michael Graham. Visitation one hour prior to the service. Memorial may be made to the church in Walter's name. Cremation rites will be accorded. Interment at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery.
