Wally knew he was right where God wanted him to be.
Wallace William Jopke, 86 of Loves Park died on Sunday, January 31, 2010 at 12:35 pm in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Wally was born on March 17, 1923 in Madison, WI. Son of Walter and Lillian (VonVoss) Jopke. Wallace served in the US Navy as a Seabee during WWII. He retired from the City of Sun Prairie Street Department. He was a board member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society Board in Madison and the Sacred Heart Church in Sun Prairie. He enjoyed participating in events at the Bridge Center of Rockford. After the death of his first wife, Katherine (Nystrom) Jopke, he married Margaret (Hinman) on August 18, 1973 in Sun Prairie, WI. They raised their children together. Wally knew that he was right where God wanted him to be. Wallace is survived by his children, Terry (Cheryl) Hinman, of Coralville, IA, Ellen Dimond of Belvidere, Norman Hinman of Fredericksburg, MD, Mary (Bruce) Dicka of Poynette, WI, Julie (Sam) Skemp of Sun Prairie, WI, Colleen Mini of Loves Park, Mary (Doug) Middleton of Edgerton, WI, Karen (David) Roach of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, William Jopke of Love Park, and Charles Hinman of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; 28 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his second wife, Margaret (Hinman) Jopke, in 1989; son, James Hinman and siblings, Olive Clemens, Ervin Jopke, Adaline Christiansen, Roy Jopke, June Mueller and Henry Jopke.
A Memorial Gathering with friends and family will be on Saturday, February 6, 2010 from 11 am – 1 pm at 858 Chalfont Drive, Sun Prairie, WI.
