Verona Ruth (Swanson) Lood, 91, of Rockford, went to be with her Lord and Savior on July 11, 2012 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Verona was born July 11, 1921 in Chicago, daughter of Oscar and Elsie Swanson. United in Marriage to Roland Lood on September 16, 1944 at Philadelphia Church in Chicago. When she moved to Rockford, she became a member of Rockford First Assembly. Survived by her brother Cecil (Jeanette) Swanson, her children Brent (Linda) of Sleepy Hollow, Sherryl (Per) Anderas of Green Bay, WI, daughter-in-law, Karin Lood of California, Grandchildren Bjorn Lood, Brett Lood, Kristina (Bryan) Gritton, Brian (Sandra) Lood, Braden Lood, Phillip (Lisa) Anderas, Lars Anderas, Charles Anderas, and Corrine (Jesse) Poole; 9 great grandchildren, numerous nieces , nephews, and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Roland Lood, son, Bruce Lood, sister, Geraldine Hulttgren. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she spent her life serving her church, family and friends. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at Rockford First, 5950 Mulford Rd. Rockford, with visitation prior to the service. Fr. Phillip Anderas will officiate.
