Obituary

Todd Lynn Collman, 58, of Rockton, passed away on October 20, 2026. Born on September 11, 1968, in Rockford, he was the son of Gary and Janice (Roland) Collman.

Todd graduated from West High School in 1986. He play trumpet in the school band and was on the tennis team. He attended KNR Express Truck Driving School. It was during his high school years that he met the love of his life, Mary. Their paths crossed one Saturday night while cruising around town with friends, a popular weekend tradition. After five years of dating, Todd and Mary were united in marriage on January 11, 1991, in Cleveland, Ohio. Their love story was filled with laughter, devotion, and a lifetime of memories.

Todd was employed as a truck driver for the United States Postal Service, having previously worked for Stericycle and KNR Express.

Above all else, Todd was a devoted husband and an extraordinary dad. His daughter, Heather, was his pride and joy, and for 23 years, he rarely missed a BMX race, he was Heather's bike mechanic, and no one else was allowed to touch her bike or he'd raise hell. Whether near or far, Todd was there, cheering her on, celebrating her accomplishments, and supporting her every step of the way. His devotion extended beyond the racetrack, as he wholeheartedly supported Heather's education and her dream of becoming a physical therapist and earning her doctorate. He took tremendous pride in her determination, hard work, and accomplishments, always encouraging her to pursue her goals. Todd was her biggest fan, her greatest encourager, and a constant source of love and strength.

But Todd's role as a dad extended well beyond his own family. He became a second father to many who needed someone in their corner, including Heather's fellow BMX family, "Other Daughter," Ima, Lisa and Mel. He was the "Salon Husband" to Mary's friends and coworker family, always ready to lend a hand, offer advice, or simply be there when someone needed him. Whether helping a friend through a difficult divorce or showing up in the middle of a crisis, Todd never hesitated. He didn't ask questions, expect recognition, or want anything in return. Helping others was simply who he was. If you needed Todd, he was there.

When he wasn't spending time with family or helping friends, Todd enjoyed riding his beloved Harley-Davidson, fishing, and trap shooting with his lifelong neighborhood friend, Paul. His Harley held a particularly special place in his heart, and even in his final days, Todd made sure everyone knew it. When his sister-in-law Karen announced that she intended to ride his Harley after he was gone, Todd, though too weak to speak, somehow found the strength to give her the middle finger. It was a perfectly timed, unmistakably Todd response that captured his stubborn streak, quick wit, and sense of humor right to the very end.

Todd had a remarkable ability to make people feel like family. He was loyal, generous, protective, and always willing to go the extra mile for the people he cared about. His kindness wasn't something he talked about; it was something he demonstrated every day. He was the person people called when life got difficult, knowing he would show up without judgment or hesitation. To know Todd was to know what it meant to have someone truly in your corner.

Survived by his loving wife, Mary; daughter, Heather (Stefan) Fahy Collman; mother, Janice Collman; sister, Nanci (Doug) Fry; father-in-law, Richard Sanders; sister-in-law, Karen Sanders; nieces and nephews, Sheane (Cassandra) Fry, Cody Sanders, Kayla (Jimmy Patch) Frew, Travis Keen, Keary (Brandon) Harding, and Kirsten (Ryan) Werner; numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Paul and Angie McNally, Jake and Candy Karau, and Lisa, Keith, and Ima Nelson.

Preceded in death by his father; maternal and paternal grandparents; mother-in-law, Sue Sanders; and brother-in-law, Jimmy Sanders.

Todd's family wishes to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the staff at UW Madison for the kindness, compassion, and exceptional care they provided throughout his illness.

Memorial donations may be made to UW Madison Carbone Cancer Center or Noah's Ark Animal Rescue.

Todd leaves behind far more than memories. He leaves a legacy of unconditional love, fierce loyalty, laughter, and countless acts of kindness. His greatest gift was the way he made others feel loved, protected, and never alone. The lives he touched are better because he was part of them, and his presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

And perhaps the greatest testament to the life Todd and Mary shared comes from Mary herself. Given the chance, she says she would marry him all over again-even if it meant he proposed in the KFC parking lot, just like he did the first time.

Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held in future. Grace Funeral & Cremation Serivces assisted the family. Share a memory or condolence at www.graceFH.com.
