Thomas W. Chapman, 80, of Machesney Park died on May 20, 2024. Born January 4. 1944 in Rockford; son of William and Barbara (Patterson) Chapman. Graduate of Rockford East High School. United in marriage to Donna Novak on May 9, 1964. Tom retired from CamCar Textron; where he worked in the Occupational Safety Department. Prior to that role, he worked in Data Processing. After retirement Tom, worked part time for the Winnebago County Forest Preserve District. Tom was a volunteer for the Winnebago Sheriff's Emergency Response Team and a long time member and officer of the Live and Let Live Society (LLL Club). He was also an active member of the Masons and a member of the Tebala Shrine. He was an avid fisherman, traveling to Lake Erie, where he fished for walleye and musky fishing in Northern Wisconsin. Tom and Donna enjoyed spending time on the Mississippi River, near Dubuque, IA on their houseboat over the years. They created many family memories on the river. Tom was a loving husband, proud father and grandfather. Survived by wife; Donna; sons, Dr. Jeffrey (Annariel Lopez) Chapman of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Michael (Heather) Chapman of Sammamish, WA; grandchildren, Kaila (Ryan Todd) Lopez, Nina Chapman, Lily Chapman, Colin Chapman, Henry Chapman; siblings, Steven (Kathy) Chapman, Susan (Stephen Whitelaw) Chapman, Darlene Chapman, William (Elizabeth) Chapman; nephews and nieces, Ryan Chapman, Brooke Chapman, Ross Chapman, Laura Whitelaw, Jenna Whitelaw and special friend, Ron (Linda) Lanquist. Preceded in death by his parents. Celebration of life on June 1 at 1:00 pm at the LLL Club 1515 9th Street, Rockford, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children.
