Susan Lee Christensen, 52, of Cortland died on November 1, 2016 in Central DuPage Hospital. Born on June 21, 1964 in Rockford, daughter of Alvin and Margery (Meyers) Christensen. Graduate of East High School in Rockford and Northern Illinois University. Susan was a retired air traffic controller. She was devoted to the care and rehabilitation of animals, and was a dedicated volunteer at Tails Humane Society, where she served as a board member, and at Oaken Acres Wildlife Center. Survived by her mother, Margery Christensen and companion Charlie Wadsworth of Rockford; siblings, Karen Christensen of Sunnyvale, CA with friend Craig Hange of Mountain View, CA and, Scott (Dr. Beth) Christensen of Rockford; special friends, Kathy Stelford, Anne Spencer, Jean Curley, and Steve Nuppenau; and her cats, Owl, Jack, and Teddy. Preceded in death by her father. Private services will be held. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Susan's memory to the Pet Peace of Mind Program at Northern Illinois Hospice, 4215 Newburg Road. Rockford, IL 61108.
