It is with deep sorrow that the family of Suzanne "Sue" Joy Arns announces her passing on June 24, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on August 11, 1938, in Rockford, Illinois, daughter of Frederick Lee Jr. and Beulah (Hough) Lee. Graduate of West High School, class of 1956. She also attended Elmhurst College. Sue lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished moments. Those who knew her will remember her kindness, wisdom, and infectious spirit that brought joy to everyone around her.
Sue is survived by her devoted children; Donald (Tina) Arns, Jeff (Janet) Arns, Steven (Tammy) Arns, Debra (Tim) Oliver; grandchildren, Jessica (Adam), Nicole (Doug), Devan, Skyler (Katie), Tatym (Nate), Nick; great-grandchildren, A.J., Cody, Jiselle, Jameson; brother, Greg (Barb) Lee; several nieces, nephews and cousins and her treasured friends at the Forest View Mobile Home Park. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her, as well as through the family she nurtured.
Sue was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She was a talented seamstress. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed trips to the arcade, playing board games, crafting and teaching cribbage to them. She was close to her beloved brother and had fun playing cribbage with him weekly (she won the last game they played together). She also was a fan of vintage game shows she watched on the Roku channel and came to the conclusion that Ryan Seacrest had more talent as a host than his predecessor, Pat Sajak. Sue also loved watching the Hallmark Channel.
The family will honor Sue's memory with a series of gatherings that will take place on July 11, 2026, at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. A Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 pm; her brother, Greg Lee will officiate. Concluding the day's events, a reception will be held at 1:00 pm to continue the celebration of her life, filled with stories, laughter, and remembrance.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in her memory. https://www.stjude.org/. Cremation rites will be accorded. Private interment in Willwood Burial Park. Share a memory or condolence at www.graceFH.com.t www.graceFH.com.
