Steven L. Shimp, 65, of Roscoe went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 27, 2020, after a recent esophageal cancer diagnosis. Born September 29, 1954, son of Norman and Joyce (Rose) Shimp. United in marriage to Barbara Bush on August 22, 1975 in Muskegon, MI. Obtained his master's degree from Cardinal Stritch University. Steven was a Regional Vice President of Human Resources of Bon Ton Holdings. Attended Heartland Community Church. He was a wonderful, loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Survived by his wife of 44 years, Barbara; sons, Rick (Kari) Shimp of Machesney Park, Brian (Kelly) Shimp of Rockton; grandchildren, Courtney, Samantha, Dylan and Emersyn Shimp; mother, Joyce Campsmith of Largo, FL; brothers, John (Debbie) Campsmith, Tedd (Morgan) Shimp, all of TX; father and mother-in-law, Ben and Bettie Bush of Muskegon, MI; brothers-in-law, Chuck (Linda) Bush of Marlette, MI David (Becky) Bush of Muskegon, MI, Roy Smith of UT, Joe Olson of IL; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his father, Norman Shimp; step-father, John Campsmith; sisters-in-law, Brenda Olson, Beverly Bush; sister, Debra Smith. Memorial visitation Friday, January 31, 2020 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at Heartland Community Church, 1280 S. Alpine Rd. Rockford; followed by a Celebration of Life at 5:30 p.m. Pastor Gordy Smith will officiate.
