Steven Ray Donaldson, 61, of Rockford died on August 19, 2024. Born December 18, 1962, in Rockford; son of Ernest and Blanche (Keating) Donaldson. Steve attended Harlem High School Class of 1981. Steve graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree from the University of Phoenix. He was employed as a Machine Mechanic at PCI and was previously employed at Mondelez International. He was a former member of the Freemasons, Machesney Park Lodge, American Brotherhood Aimed Towards Education, and National Rifleman Association. In his free time, Steve could be found on the back of his Harley Heritage Softail. He loved long road trips and was known to hop on his bike and ride to wherever he happened to end up. Steve enjoyed backcountry and rustic camping, settling in with whatever he could pack in or out on his back. He traveled to the Smokey Mountains, Appalachia and Kentucky. Steve was a great dad, loving son, fantastic brother and treasured "Uncle Teeb" to his nieces and nephews. He was a kid at heart, who enjoyed playing board games with the kids, fighting with Styrofoam swords and spending time with his sons and extended family. He was always present and available for his three sons, whom he loved dearly. Survived by his boys; Blake (Sydney), Connor, and Garrett Donaldson; mother, Blanche Reeder; sister, Debbie (Tim) Rich; nieces and nephews, David (Becky) Rich, Amy (Ben) Vosmek; niece-in-law, Emily Rich; great-nieces and great-nephews, Victoria, Delia, Reese and Edith Rich, and Corban Vosmek; former spouse and friend, Marlene Donaldson; and special friends, "Stretch", Gary Bunch, Tom James, and Bill Washington. Preceded in death by his father, niece Sarah Rich and nephew Brian Rich. Visitation on Thursday, August 29, 2024, from 4-6 p.m., followed by a celebration of his life at 6 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N. Main St. Rockford. Pastor Bobby Sheets will officiate.
