Obituary

Stephen Phillip Johnson, 55 (known to his friends and family as Phil Johnson) passed from this world on December 5, 2022, as a result of extensive injuries suffered from a motorcycle accident that took place in the mountains of Maine in June of 2020. Since the accident, Phil had been residing with his sister, Sherry Johnson, and her husband Brian Reinbold in Rockford, IL. Phil was born on October 23, 1967, in Safford Arizona to Nathanael and Margaret (Sarver) Johnson. The family moved to Tucson in 1969. Phil played football during his junior and senior years at Palo Verde Christian High School and graduated in 1986. He attended the University of Arizona and went on to become the President and Owner of Sure Shot Transportation. For over 25 years, the open road was his home, and his career carried him over 3 million miles and to almost every state on the continent. Phil's smile and outgoing personality never failed to light up a room. He was a natural optimist and lived his life on the edge which was exemplified by his love of life, the open road, and motorcycle racing. Never shying away from a challenge or a chance to feel the rush of wind on his face, he showed us that life is not counted by the number of breaths one takes but by the number of moments that take our breath away. By that measure, Phil outlived us all. Phil is survived by his daughter; Ashlynn Lowry; sister; Sherry (Brian Reinbold) Johnson, brother-in-law, Mitchell Peterman; nephew, Stephen (Susan) Peterman; nieces, Valerie Peterman, Stephanie Peterman; great-nephews and great-nieces; Catie, Ethan, Noah, Levi, and Sevin. Phil was preceded in death by his parents Margaret and Nathanael; brother Michael Johnson and sister, Navarra Peterman. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family. A celebration of life event will be held in Arizona later this spring. (Time and date to be announced). In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Phil's memory to www.braveheartsforkids.org .
