Loving Husband, Father, Father-In-Law and "Deka"
Sreten M. Jonic, 76 of Rockford went home to be with Jesus, His God and Savior on Saturday, August 21, 2010. He was a loving husband, caring father and father-in-law, the best "Deka" in the world! Sreten was born on January 23, 1934 in Pirot, Serbia and was United in Marriage to Olga Gavrilovic on July 8, 1962. He was educated in Serbia and worked as a Dental Technician. After immigrating to the United States he opened Balkan Dental Lab in Chicago. Sreten was very proud of his native country of Serbia and grateful for his adopted country. Everyone who came into contact with Sreten knew him as a kind, friendly, and honest man. He is survived by his wife, Olga; sons, Paul (Danijela) Jonic of Maryland, Sasha (Margie) Jonic of Rockford; grandchildren, Jeannette, Tanya, Alex Jonic all of Rockford; sisters, Katarina, Leposava and Dunja. "i Ostala Mnogobrojna Rodbina." He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Jovan and sister, Ljubinka. A visitation will be held on Monday, August 23, 2010 from 6-8 pm at 1Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Road, Rockford. A graveside funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at Arlington Memorial Park, 6202 Charles Street Rockford. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
