Samuel "Sammy" Michael Massetti, age 51, passed away surrounded by loved ones after a strong-willed battle with illness. Born on May 18, 1974, in Rockford, Illinois, Sammy lived life on his own terms-full of laughter, music, and good times with family and friends. A proud Harlem High School graduate of the Class of 1993, Sammy was also a member of the Harlem football team, where he built lasting friendships and unforgettable memories. A devoted Raiders fan and loyal supporter of the Baltimore Orioles, Sammy could often be found cheering on his teams with passion and a cold drink in hand. He had a deep love for rock 'n' roll-especially Mötley Crüe-and his playlists were the soundtrack to countless great memories shared with those lucky enough to know him. Sammy was the beloved son of Michael Massetti and Mary Gagliano-Ratzel, and was lovingly guided through his years by Maria (Lupe) Helton, who became like a mother to him. He is survived by his parents Michael Massetti and Mary Gagliano-Ratzel, Lupe Helton, his sister Andrea Helton, and his children Aerianna Cicero, Nicholas (Michelle) Massetti, and Andrew Massetti. Sammy was also the proud grandfather of Crossfeccio Cicero, Gabriella Massetti, and Marcello Massetti, all of whom brought him tremendous joy.He is preceded in death by his grandparents Millie and Dominic Massetti, Frank and Mary Gagliano, and his brother Kenny Helton. Sammy will also be deeply missed by many cherished friends who became family throughout his life. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Chris, Mario, Lisa, and Dayne for their unwavering love, support, and companionship during Sammy's final days. Your kindness and friendship meant the world to him. Sammy will be remembered for his wild spirit, sense of humor, and love for a good time. His legacy lives on in the laughter, music, and memories he shared with all who knew him. Sammy wanted everyone to remember that he is the Ayatollah of Rock n Rolla baby! A visitation will be held at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services on December 6, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with a service at 1:00 p.m. In true Sammy fashion, the family invites everyone to skip the formal wear and come as you are-sport your favorite Raiders gear, throw on a band tee, or crank up some rock 'n' roll in his honor.
