Ruth E. Kolar, 83, of Rockford died peacefully in her home, on June 24, 2017 surrounded by her family. Born on June 5, 1934 in Titonka, IA; daughter of Bernard and Leita (Sperring) Phelps. United in marriage to Joseph Kolar on December 18, 1984. Ruth worked in accounting for several local businesses. Member of Christ United Methodist Church and the Zonta Club. She was a talented seamstress, loved baking, playing the slots, and vacationing with her family and friends. Survived by daughter, Shelley Gale; grandchildren, Karla Gale, Kari Gale, Kyle Brechon, Corey Brechon, Cody Brechon; great-grandchildren, Aubrey, Lilly, Brady, Juliana, Nora, Rieker, Merritt, Morrison; brother, Merle (Margaret) Phelps; sister-in-law, Betty Phelps and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Kolar; son, Paul Krominga Jr.; former spouse, Paul Krominga Sr.; daughter, Sharie Brechon; infant sister, Dorothy Phelps; brother, Leroy Phelps. Celebration of Life on July 8, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 4509 Highcrest Rd., Rockford. Rev. Jane Eesley will officiate. Memorial visitation at 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family. Private interment in Kossuth County, Portland Township, Iowa. Ruth's benevolent influence in her friends' and family's lives will never be forgotten and her elegance and admirable legacy will be upheld by all those who shared her presence; a truly beautiful woman, inside and out.
