Ruth Elder, 75, of Rockford died on May 3, 2015 in her home, surrounded by her family. Born on August 21, 1939 in Winterset, IA; daughter of John and Margaret Williams. United in marriage to Edward Elder on May 29, 1956. Ruth was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family and playing the slots. Survived by husband, Edward; children, Norma Jean Pearson, John (Andrea) Elder, Michael Elder, Scott Elder, all of Rockford; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenny (Diane) Williams of Winnebago, Judy Williams of Rockford; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; son, Ernest Elder; and son-in-law, James Torrance. Celebration of Life May 13, 2015 at 6 p.m. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 1340 South Alpine Rd.
