Russell Harry Herringer, 83 of Beloit died at 11:56 am on Friday, October 2, 2009 in his home. Russell was born on April 25, 1926 in Minnesota. Son of Harry and Alma (Lee) Herringer. Russell was an accomplished horse trainer and driver. Russell made a living doing what he loved each day, working with horses. He was employed at Insko Stables. He won the 1959 N.I.C.A. pace with Fairside Pal. His children have fond memories of traveling to county fairs to watch the horse races and of camping as a family. Russell had a tender heart, and is fondly remembered by his family as someone who loved to laugh.
Russell was married to Betty Lundy for 38 years. In 1985 he moved to Florida with his wife. He returned to the area in April to be closer to his children and grandchildren. Survived by his wife, Betty of Florida; children; Carol (Daniel) Tanner of Beloit, Steve Herringer of Rockton; step-daughter, Kathleen "Dode" Lynch of MO; grandchildren; Brandon Herringer, Carrie Nelson; siblings, Linda (Ronald) Hiller of MN, Darrell (Arla) Herringer of NE. Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be may to the family to be designated at a later date.
