Ronald Keith Weaver, 79, of Shirland died December 10, 2021. Born August 31, 1942 in Rockford; son of Keith E. and Esther (Matthews) Weaver. Graduate of Hononegah High School, class of 1960. Ron served in the United States Air Force. United in marriage to Helen Anderson on August 5, 1961 in Biloxi, MS. Ron retired from the Shirland Fire Department, after 46 years of dedicated service; 36 of which he served as Chief. Member of the Illinois Fire Chiefs Association. He volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America. Ron was a perfectionist in all areas of his life. He liked to build and fix things, most recently dismantling and reassembling his car engine, because he needed a project and was bored. Survived by his wife, Helen; daughter-in-law, Kathy Weaver; grandchildren, Amy (Nate), Josh (Glen), Candice (Wesley), Matthew (Tesia), Michael; great-grandchildren, Abbey, Madison, Delaney, Finnley, Tyler, Marshall, Jordan, Jacob and two more on the way; sisters, Judy Hodgdon, Sandra Hocking; several nieces, nephews and cousins; special friends, Doug, Dennis, Davin McKee, Greg Morrow, Jim Lundstrom, and an extended circle of friends. Preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Tammy Weaver; sons Michael Weaver and Ronald W. Weaver. Funeral Service Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. at Shirland United Methodist Church, 8030 North Street; Shirland. Pastor Leslie Stanford will officiate. Private interment in Shirland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family in Ron's memory may be made.
