Roland Joseph Lood, 90 of Rockford went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 23, 2011 at 6:45 a.m. at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Roland was born on August 11, 1920 in Chicago, son of Joseph and Anna Lood. Graduate of Lane Tech High School. United in Marriage to Verona Swanson on September 16, 1944 at Philadelphia Church in Chicago, where he was a long time member. When he moved to Rockford he became a member of Rockford First Assembly. Owned Rock Manufacturing in Chicago. Survived by his wife, Verona of Rockford; children, Brent (Linda) Lood of Sleepy Hollow, Sherryl (Per) Anderas of Green Bay, WI; daughter in law, Karin Lood of California; grandchildren, Bjorn Lood, Brett Lood, Kristina (Bryan) Gritton, Brian (Sandra) Lood, Braden Lood, Phillip (Lisa) Anderas, Lars Anderas, Charles Anderas, Corrine (Jesse) Poole; 9 great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents, son, Bruce Lood; siblings, Harry and Marvin Lood. He was an avid fisherman, he loved spending time at the family cottage on Stormy Lake. He was a Cubs and Bears fan and later in life became a Packers fan.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Rockford First, 5950 Mulford Rd. Rockford, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Bob Taylor will officiate. Private interment in Arlington Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairhaven or a missionary of your choice.
