Roger Lee Brock, 81, of Rockford went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, surrounded by his loving family on July 6, 2020. Born June 10, 1939 in Taylorville; son of Harold and Ethel (Davidson) Brock. Graduate of Taylorville High School and Western Illinois University. United in marriage to Shirley Maitya on January 29, 1966. Roger was a member of City First Church, where he volunteered as an usher and participated in Care Groups and Men's prayer conferences. He was formerly employed as a design engineer at several local companies. In his retirement years, he worked as a greeter at the Rockford Clinic with his beloved wife, Shirley, by his side. Roger most enjoyed spending time with his bride of 54 years traveling together. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren; attending their sporting and school events and playing with them. He had a talent for fixing things. Survived by his loving wife, Shirley; children, Kevin (Julie) Brock, Karla (Cary) Proper, Aaron (Sue) Brock; grandchildren Garrett (Caitlin) Brock, Payten (Bryce) Nelson, Hayley and Cassidy Proper, Mason and Nolan Brock; brother, Wayne (Kathy) Brock; aunt, Betty Jo Newman; numerous cousins and grandpuppies. Preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles. Visitation Thursday, July 9, 2020 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main Street; Rockford. Additional visitation on Friday, July 10, 2020 from 10 am to 10:45 a.m. at the funeral followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m. Private family burial.
