Beloved Son
Robert C. Vanderleest, 35, of Rockford passed away May 22, 2014 with his family by his side. Born August 10, 1978 in Rockford, son of Robert and Patricia (Lee) Vanderleest. Rob loved role playing and LARP; especially the game Vampire Masquerade. His biggest love was video games. He was a master of the game Street Fighter and his room would regularly become the place for tournaments. He also enjoyed comic books. Survivors include his father; sisters, Laura (Loren) Miesner, Alice Gill Wright; nieces, Lindsey and Chelsea; great-nephew, Kaiden; great-niece, Olivia; Aunts, Ondean (Donald) Courtney, Karla (Steve) Zingre, Chris (Charlie) Jones; Uncle, Richard (Nancy) Vanderleest; very special cousin, Shannon Kutz; best friends, Chris and Jerome; and many other family and friends. Preceded in death by his mother; grandparents, Carl and Hallie Affinito, Amelia and Vance Waite, Robert Vanderleest and John E. Lee; and great-niece, Elliott. Funeral Service will be Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at 11 am at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services 1340 South Alpine Rd. Rockford - at Colonial Village with visitation at 9 am until the time of service. Rev. Dr. Ron C. Meyer will officiate. Rob's family requests that you dress in casual attire. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to family.
