In the early hours of May 23, 2011, after the earthly storms passed through Rockton, Illinois, heaven's calm took Robert Eugene Schenk from his suffering surrounded by loving family. Bob was born in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, to Raymond Earl and Francis Craig Schenk on July 22, 1932. After leaving Mt. Pleasant, Bob lived in Burlington, Iowa then settled in Rockton, Illinois, where he has lived since 1960, retiring from Sonoco in 1992. Bob is predeceased by his parents and brother Roger Schenk. He is survived by his wife Mary Jo; children Raymond Schenk (Sheri Ashby) of Stafford, Texas; Ricky Schenk (Dee), Sandy Cofoid (Mike), Mike Schenk, Terry Schenk (Liz O'Brien) all of the Rockton area; Robert Kephart (Judy) of Mt. Pleasant, and Carol Kephart of Donnelson, Iowa. He also leaves to mourn siblings Jim Schenk (Barbara), Larry Schenk, and Bonnie Thomas (Jack) along with 20 grandchildren (Raymond, Joshua, Emilee, Michelle, Jason, Erin, Brian, Brandi, Kaela, Christopher, Jessica, Jake, Charlotte, Samantha, Jennifer, Heather, Rob, Angie, John, and Katrina) and 26 great-grandchildren. The family would like to thank Centered Hospice Team for their support. Services will be conducted by Grace Funeral & Cremation Services at Rockton United Methodist Church at 102 West Chapel, Rockton Illinois, Wednesday, May 25, 2011. Visitation will be at 11:00 am with the funeral following at 1:00 pm. Interment at Rockton Township Cemetery. Bob loved to dance and created "The Bob". He loved his grandchildren, his pet bird, but more than anything he loved to bask in the sun on his patio.
