Robert Hamberg, 68, was welcomed into heaven by his Lord and Savior. Born to Stan and Helen Hamberg. He grew up in Stillman Valley. Bob received his Bachelor Degree and Masters in Education from Northern Illinois University. United in marriage to Paula Bloomquist on July 22, 1972. He taught and coached basketball at Stillman Valley, Rockford Area Vocational School and McHenry County College. After leaving teaching, he worked at Amerock and Hamilton Sundstrand. Bob enjoyed serving with First Impressions at Heartland Community Church. His family, especially his grandchildren, were the love of his life. He will be deeply missed by his wife, Paula; son, Paul and Janelle Hamberg; daughter, Britta and Travis Emenecker; precious grandchildren, P.B., Jackson, Brooks, and Adelynne Hamberg; Bode and Tegan Emenecker; siblings, Rich and Marge Hamberg, Karen and Bill Starr, and sister-in-law, Della Hamberg. Preceded in death by his parents and brother Chuck. Bob's faith in Jesus Christ, his family and friends, the staff at SwedishAmerican, Alpine Fireside, and Heartland Hospice helped encourage him through this challenging time. A celebration of Bob's life will be Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Heartland Community Church, 1280 South Alpine Rockford. Memorial visitation at 12 p.m. until the time of service. Pastor Josh Peigh will officiate. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the family to be divided between ministries of Bob's choice. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
