Obituary

Robert Allen Alderman, 71, of Poplar Grove passed away November 20, 2025, surrounded by his family. Born on November 4, 1954 in Belvidere; son of Allen and Louise (Kurtz) Alderman. Bob attended North Boone High School for two years, where he met his future wife and love of his life, Terri Weaver. He finished his high school career at Belvidere High School, graduating in 1972. He was united in marriage to Terri at Poplar Grove United Methodist Church on March 31, 1973. Bob retired after 43 years at Camcar Textron on July 31, 2014, which also happened to be his wife's birthday, giving her the best birthday present ever. He was a member of the Poplar Grove United Methodist Church, the Poplar Grove Lions Club and a served his community as a volunteer fireman on the North Boone Fire District 3. Bob was a tinkerer, he enjoyed puttering around his home "Boberizing" things that need attention. He enjoyed fixing things, and the things he fixed operated when he was done; even though there were often several remaining or missing parts. He now has his family "Tubing Things Up" instead of Google searches. He was selfless and giving and would go out of his way to help anyone at any time with needs that arose. He truly did not know how to say no and never met a stranger. Conversations with Bob could be very long, as he loved to chat, although he often claimed that he "never talked to anyone". Bob and Terri had lifelong friends in the community and made new friends, vacationing in the winter as snowbirds in Frost Proof, FL; Terri and Bob enjoyed playing cards and games with their friends, and when they returned to their home in Illinois, they spent many evenings playing Hand and Foot together. He spent time in Florida at the "Camp Inn Walmart" looking for treasures to "Boberize". He was a hardworking, dedicated family man and a constant companion to his wife throughout the course of their marriage. He loved raising his children in Poplar Grove with his wife and was proud of their accomplishments. His grandchildren were his pride and joy, he greeted them every morning with a good morning message. He attended their sporting events, activities and celebrated their accomplishments. He would truly do anything for them all; all he asked was for a smile in return. A final act of kindness was Bob's decision to donate his organs, offering hope to those in need. Survived by his wife of 52 years, Terri; children, Katie (Chad) Osterberg, Kevin (Angie) Alderman; grandchildren, Emily (Luke) Hunt, Lauren (Camden Johnson) Osterberg, Chandler Alderman, Marlee Alderman; great-grandson, Caleb Hunt; sisters, Kay (Terry) Ellingson, Sue (Dick) Babcock; sisters-in-law, Joni Weaver, Debbi (Steve) Thurson; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a circle of special friends. Preceded in death by his parents Allen and Louise Kurtz; brother Randy Sisson; father and mother-in-law, Don and Ethelyn Weaver and brother-in-law, Tom Weaver.
