Roachelle Cerney (Friedman)

Roachelle (Shelly) Cerney age 81, of Davis Junction, IL passed peacefully on Saturday June 25, 2022, surrounded by her husband and family. The daughter of the late Charles and Goldie Mae (Macklin) Friedman. Shelly was born November 10, 1940, in Chicago, IL. Shelly is survived by husband Clement (Beezie) J. Cerney, Son Brian F. (Paula); sister Ethel (the late Jack) Russ, sister Beryl (the late Steve) Baer and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and friends.

She is preceded in death by brothers Emanuel (Silvia) Baskin; Alvin (Ruth) Baskin; Frances (Edward) Hamilton, nee Friedman; Solomon N. Friedman; Hinda Watson, nee Friedman; Samuel (Donna) Friedman.

Shelly graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago, IL, and went on to Chicago University. She met the love her life Beezie and they were married November 4, 1967, where they started their family in Des Plaines, IL and lived for over 35 years. Shelly worked in the Hospitality business for over 30 plus years to include working for Marriott, Sheraton and Ramada hotel chains and retired from Ramada Plaza Hotel O'Hare. She enjoyed traveling to see family and hitting a casino along the way. Other joys in her life included bingo, cross stitching and cooking.

Services to include burial at Lincoln Charter Township Cemetery of Stevensville, Michigan, on Monday June 27, 2022, at 2pm Eastern Time. Shiva will be observed Monday evening in Davis Junction for immediate family and Tuesday June 28, 2022, all day for family and friends. A Memorial Service for family and friends will be held at the VFW located at 922 7th Street, Rockford, IL 61104, on Thursday June 30, 2022, at 12:30pm CST.
