Richard I. Reuter, 76, of Rockford died on June 2, 2014 at 11:15 a.m. in SwedishAmerican Hospital. Born on September 4, 1937 in Elgin, son of Irving and Dorothy (Fox) Reuter. Formerly employed as a Brick Layer for National Acid Proofing in Chicago. Richard married his best friend, Linda Rosborough on September 27, 2002. He loved spending time outdoors, enjoying nature and chopping wood. Richard could be found tending to his Paso Fino Horses, or gardening with his dog Oz by his side. He was an accomplished cook, creating meals from his summer bounty of vegetables that he canned and preserved. Survived by wife, Linda; children, Kimberly (Barry) Gutfeld of Washington, NC, Richard (Heather) Reuter of Poway, CA, Barbara (Mike) Dooley of Seattle, WA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; siblings, Kenneth Reuter of Belvidere, and Renee Smith Elgin. Preceded in death by his parents; infant brother; brother, John Reuter; sister, Sherry Senior; and sister-in-law Dorothy Reuter. No services are scheduled.
