Richard E. Maitland, 74, of Loves Park went to be with his Savior on May 26, 2021, surrounded by his family. Born on January 26, 1947 in Rockford, son of Lawrence and Dorothy (Stevens) Maitland. Richard was a graduate of Harlem High School, class of 1965 and was united in marriage to Linda Lusk on January 11, 1969. He was employed as a sprinkler fitter for 37 years, retiring from Automatic Fire Systems. He was a member of Sprinkler Fitters Local 669. Rick was a life long Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed watching them play. He even passed his love of the game and the team on to both of his daughters. He loved golfing with his friends and brother Gary.
Rick also enjoyed going to lunch with his close friends from high school. He was very fond of western movies; his favorite actor being John Wayne. Rick also enjoyed spending winters in Florida with Linda and taking many cruises with their friends. Survived by his wife; daughters, Beth Maitland, Sarah (Tyler) Anderson; grandchildren, Emily Grace Vespa, James Tyler Anderson, Anabelle Marie Stahl; siblings, Lorna (Jim) Rost, Linda Marston, Barb Lucas; and sister-in-law, Barbara Maitland. Numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; infant son, Robert Lawrence Maitland; brother, Gary Maitland; in-laws, Bobbie and Doris Lusk, and brother-in-law, Alan Lusk. Memorial visitation on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from 11 am to 1 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St. Rockford, followed by a Celebration of Life, meal and sharing of stories and memories at 1 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Northern Illinois Hospice.
