Reginald "Reggie" Avery Brooks Sr., 46, of Loves Park, departed this earthly life December 17, 2021 after a brief illness. Born May 5, 1975 in Rockford; son of Robert and Claresa (Clark) Brooks. Graduate of Harlem High School class of 1994. Served his country proudly in the United States Marines. Reggie was formerly employed at Gunnite. United in marriage to Dawn Bonner on August 2, 2021 in Las Vegas, NV. Member of Deliverers Crusaders Church, and RAMP. Reggie's faith was very important to him. He accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and lived his life with integrity and kindness. His laugh could fill up a room, and his sense of humor and jokester spirit brought joy to those who loved him. Reggie was positive and uplifting all the time, even when he struggled with his own personal health issues. He never let disappointment or challenge bring him down. His constant refrain was, "Wegotdis". He was a published author of the book, "Can We Stop and Save This Marriage?" He enjoyed playing card and computer games. His loving presence is greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Survived by wife, Dawn; mother, Claresa Wright; step-father, Larry Wright; children, Molly (Edgar) Alvarado, Reginald (Corrina DeLacy) Brooks Jr., Jayden Brooks, Ian Palmquist, Brandon Bonner, Hayley Bonner; grandchildren, Alillyana, Stella, Kehlani; siblings, Bruce Brooks, Royal Brooks, Keith Brooks, Victoria Brooks, Larry "June Bug" Wright Jr., DeMarco Lambert, Aaron Wright, Katrina Chapman; special Aunt, Shirley Bondurant, special uncle, Jerome Bondurant; former wife and special friend, Dayanne Aguilar; special friend, Elisa Temes; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of extended family and friends. Preceded in death by his father; brother, Donta Howard; and grandmothers, Virginia Wright and Cecilia French. Memorial Visitation Wednesday, December 22, 2021 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at The Salvation Army Temple Corps, 500 South Rockford Ave. Rockford, followed by a celebration of life at 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to the family.
