Aleatha J. (Peggy) Luallen

Peggy Jane Luallen, 83, of Rockford, Illinois went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 29, 2024. Peggy was born in Carrolton, Missouri on April 9, 1941. She was the daughter of Kenneth Long and Beulah Burks. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School in Kewanee, Illinois and SwedishAmerican Hospital School of Nursing. in Rockford, Illinois. Peggy was working in Galesburg, Illinois when she met her future husband Jerry Luallen. They were married on June 6, 1964 and then moved to Macomb, Illinois. Peggy then worked at the McDonough District Hospital for four years while Jerry attended Western Illinois University.
Peggy and Jerry settled in Rockford, Illinois in 1968. Together they had two children (twins). Randall and Karin were born in 1969. Peggy then began working part time while Jerry began teaching in the Rockford School District.
Peggy enjoyed walking, traveling, going to garage sales, and above all getting to gather with family and friends. She spent many years as a volunteer at Swedish American Hospital. She was devoted to her family and was always there for her aging parents. She especially enjoyed the time she spent helping raise her grandchildren.
Survivors include Jerry, her husband of 60 years, her sister Pat Ruiz of Leaf River, sister-in-law Bonnie Swanson, children Randy and Karin Alabbodi, her grandchildren Adil, Yasmine, and Ali, and her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Alfred and Bill and her brother-in-law, Ken Ruiz.
Cremation rites are provided by Grace Funeral & Cremation Services. There will be a grave side service at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Peggy's honor to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=donate
