Obituary

Pearl Althea Ashley, departed this earthly life on July 22, 2024. Born November 29, 1961 in Rockford; daughter of George and Ruby (Box) Maclin. Graduate of Auburn High School. Pearl obtained her CNA certification from Rock Valley College. She worked as a Home Care Giver for Lutheran Social Services for many years. United in marriage to Calvin Ashley on September 28, 1983 in Rockford. Pearl was a loving, caring soul who always put others first. She loved spending time with her family. Pearl checked in on her kids, grandkids and extended family daily via phone and text. Her hobbies included multiple trips to Meijer, where she sought out deals and wandered the aisles looking for anything that struck her fancy. Pearl went 3- 4 times each week, sometimes twice in one day. She loved watching In the Heat of the Night, HGTV and Good Times on television and listening to her favorite Luther Vandross songs on repeat. Survived by children, Stephanie Brown, Antonio Ashley; grandchildren, Jazlyn Maclin, Stevie Brown Jr. Jaila Brown, Antonio Ashley Jr.; great-grandchildren, Jurnee Holliman, Javeah Bowden; siblings, Ruby Carr, James Box, Eva (Gordy) Luca, Cassandra (Mike) Brown; special friends, Miss Penny, Miss Valerie, Hazel Mercer; and host of extended family near and far. Preceded in death by her parents; children, Antquawn Maclin, Stacy Maclin; husband and brothers, Larry Jean Rigsby and Freeman Maclin. Per Pearl's wishes, no services will be held.
