Obituary

Patrick J. Pattison, 57, of Machesney Park, passed away on November 9, 2025.Born January 31, 1968, in Rockford, he was the son of Orlando and Joanne (Raisbeck) Pattison. A proud graduate of Belvidere High School, Class of 1986, Patrick built a life marked by hard work, creativity, and devotion to family.
Patrick was a talented machinist who took great pride in his craft. Over the years, he worked for several companies, including Fastenal, Rockford Midland, Patkus Machine, ProArc, and Pearson. In his earlier years, he also worked as a cook at Shady Lane Playhouse in Marengo and at Warner Lambert. Patrick's skill with machines was unmatched - he could fix anything he put his hands on. He especially enjoyed restoring vintage and antique fans and tinkering with engines, whether cars, lawnmowers, or anything that needed a little mechanical magic.
He learned to cook during his time at Shady Lane Playhouse and became a perfectionist in the kitchen. Known for his famous stuffed peppers, Patrick loved preparing elaborate "fancy" meals for his kids when they were young - even serving up lobster dinners just for fun. He was also a talented gardener, growing both flowers and vegetables with the same care and precision he brought to everything he did.
Patrick was a devoted and hands-on father. When his children were babies, he slept on the floor beside their cribs to make sure they were safe. As they grew, he passed on his sense of humor and love for mischief to his grandchildren, teaching them funny little things that might earn them a playful scolding later. His grandkids never left his house without a sweet treat and a smile.
His family lovingly described him as a "real-life Archie Bunker"; outspoken, strong-willed, and quick to stand up for himself. Beneath that gruff exterior, though, was a man with a big heart who loved deeply and cared fiercely for his family.
He is survived by his children, Ashley (Brian) Clark and Shawn (Haylee) Pattison, and their mother Stacey Beyer; grandchildren, Matthew, Bristol, Bailey, and Emersyn; siblings, Susanne (Brad) Emrud, Michael (Denise) Pattison, and Robert (Joanie) Pattison; sisters-in-law, Carol Pattison and Kassie Pattison; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his loyal dog, Roxie.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Daniel Pattison and Donald Pattison.
A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Celebration of Life at 12 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main St., Rockford. Funeral Celebrant Jennifer Thompson will officiate.
