Obituary

Niki Lynn Scace, 48, of Shirland passed away on April 3, 2026. Born January 27, 1978 in Rockford; daughter of Dennis and Teresa (Sinnaeve) Scace. Graduate of Hononegah High School, Class of 1996. Niki obtained her CNA Certification from Rock Valley College, and was formerly employed in home health. She found joy in life's simple pleasures, whether she was playing POGO online games, building intricate Lego flower sets, or browsing for treasures during her many online shopping adventures. A gifted seamstress, she created beautiful quilts that will continue to wrap her loved ones in the warmth of her talent and care. Her love for animals was boundless. She could never turn away a stray in need, no matter how many times her mother and friends insisted she had brought home "the last one." Her heart always had room for one more. Despite facing significant health challenges over the years, she remained remarkably good‑natured and optimistic. She loved to read-especially romance novels-and found comfort and escape in the stories she cherished. Her kindness, creativity, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew her, and her memory will be held close by all whose lives she brightened. Survived by her mother, Teresa Scace; grandmother, Gervaise Sparhawk; aunt, Tina (Rick) Kuborn; life partner, Brian Sandeen; children, Kylie Eberley, Johnathan Eberley, Valarie Sandeen, Kyle Sandeen, Tyler (Krystal) Sandeen (PO1 United States Coast Guard) Aaron Sandeen (PFC United States Army); grandchildren, Decklin, Bohdi; sister, Fawn Scace; life-long friend, Nicole Vesely; special friend and caregiver, Trisha (Joshua) Liston; numerous cousins; and extended circle of family and friends. Niki's family is grateful to her Mercy Health at Home Nurse, Sarah for the loving care she provided. Preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, father, uncle Gilbert Sparhawk and pets Darrell and ChaCha. Private family celebration of life. In lieu of flowers memorials in her memory to the family are appreciated. Share a memory or condolence at www.grace fh.com.
