Nathan Jon Shockley, 38, of Shirland passed away December 27, 2022. Born July 5, 1984, in Rockford; son of Edward and Pamela (Strand) Shockley. Nate obtained his GED, later going on to start his successful company, Organic Lawn Maintenance; of which he was the owner/operator. United in marriage to Amy Yoho on September 5, 2015 at the Church by the Side of the Road in Rockton. Nate and Amy had a loving, supportive bond and created a beautiful, blended family. Nate was a devoted husband and excellent father. He was warm, welcoming, and a loving father to his children. Nate adopted his wife's boys after their marriage and was a dedicated dad to their boys throughout the course of their lives. In his free time, he enjoyed trips with his wife, Amy. His backyard was his happy place, where he spent time with his family, riding his ATV's, dirt bikes, swimming and grilling with his family. Nate was a collector of many things, including art and coins. He also enjoyed golfing. In 2021, Nate was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He survived three months of grueling treatments with a positive outlook and perseverance. After treatment, his scans showed that there was no further cancer growth and that he was in remission. Nate was always outwardly focused, sought out those who needed support and help and never wanted others to struggle. He truly had a heart of gold, and was nice; always, to everyone who crossed paths with him. Survived by his wife; Amy; children, Tyler Bilodeau, Marshall, Jordan and Jakab Shockley; father, Edward Shockley; siblings, Jodi (Martin) Shockley-Boren, Jill (Robert Nimmo) Shockley, Candice Weaver; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins; lifelong childhood friends, Michael Wilder, Matthew Brown; "go-to" Handyman, Jake (Sativa) Roerig; large circle of friends, near and far; and his four legged best friend, Fat Boy. Preceded in death by his mother, Pamela. Memorial visitation on January 3, 2023 from 4 pm to 8 pm at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N. Main Street, Rockford.
