Nancy Kathryn Wikstrom, 78, of Rockford went to be with her Lord and Savior December 22, 2021. Born February 19, 1943 in Freeport, daughter of Kenneth and Wynette (Winters) Hay. Graduate of Warren High School, class of 1961. United in marriage to James Wikstrom on October 15, 1966 in Warren. Nancy was trained in the nursing program at Freeport Memorial Hospital, where she worked in her early career. She was employed as a nurse at several health care facilities in Northern Illinois, including Valley Hi in Woodstock; later retiring from Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Member of First Evangelical Free Church. Nancy was a talented cook and baker. She enjoyed collecting angels, and watching birds; especially cardinals. Survived by her husband, James "Jim"; children, Kay (Anthony) Thompson, Christine (Albert) Costa, Steven Wikstrom; granddaughter, Hannah Lynn Costa, Sarah Kathryn Costa; siblings, James (Janet), Thomas (Judith), Rodger (Caryl), and Robert Hay, Ruth (Alton) Sherman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins; special friends, Brenda Gleed, Patricia Tidberg, Karen Biedler, Paul and Patricia Eddy and a circle of other friends. Preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Viola Hay; and special Aunt Lolita Vondra. Visitation, Monday, January 3, 2022 at 9 am to 10:45 am at First Evangelical Free Church, 2223 North Mulford Rd. Rockford; followed by a funeral service at 11 am. Pastor Chuck Rife will officiate. Private family interment in Highland Garden of Memories in Belvidere. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services is assisting the family.
