Nancy K. Pettenger Winget- 88

Rockford - Nancy passed away at 9 pm at Wesley Willows in Rockford, IL after a short illness. She was born on Jan. 9th 1935 in Dixon, Il. to Irvin N. Pettenger and Bernice Dunseth Pettenger. Nancy was raised in Rockford and attended area schools. She started working for "Ma Bell,", Illinois Bell Telephone Co. in 1953. Nancy continued to work at the phone company after her marriage and while raising her family and retired after 21 years when Illinois Bell diversified. Nancy married Mark Winget on July 29th, 1955, in the Protestant Chapel at Kaneohe Marine Corps. Air Wing Base, Oahu Hawaii. Nancy was a lifetime Auxiliary member of the Marine Corps. League, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and DAV and held offices in the MCL aux. Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, daughters Kimberly Ann Winget in 1984 and Major Sandra Jean Winget Jellison USMC Ret. in 1998 and by her husband Mark in 2011 after 55 ½ years of marriage. Nancy is survived by daughters Denise Scanlan and Kathleen (Paul) Scordato; grandchildren, Rachel (Christian Dawson & Jack) Scanlan, Zachary Scordato, and Ali (Tony) Vessels; great-grandson, Jack Dawson; sister, Jean Pettenger (John) Fagerstrom, as well as several close friends.
