Obituary

Nancy J. Mohns, 86, of Rockton went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, April 19, 2024. Born September 22, 1937 in Belvidere; daughter of Wilson and Faye (Eis) Cain. Nancy attended Caledonia Grade and Belvidere High Schools, and Illinois Wesleyan University, where she met her future husband Robert Mohns. They were married in August of 1960. Nancy was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, where she volunteered her time over the years in a variety of ministries. She typed weekly bulletins, kept church records, and served on the funeral lunch and building committees. Nancy was a talented musician, occasionally sharing her musical gifts as the fill in accompanist during weekly church services. She retired from the insurance industry, after working as an account manager at Gary Bach, Weller, and McEachran Insurance Agencies. Nancy loved her family and church family. Survived by her children; Charlotte Mohns, Carl (Cathy) Mohns; grandchildren, Luke (Veronika) Mohns, Taylor Mohns; Sisters and Brothers in law, Bud (Pat) Mohns, Phyllis (Emmitt) Moore, Wes (Char) Mohns, 7 nieces and 9 nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister and brother-in-law, Ann and Richard Thomas, sisters in law Delores Mattis, Doris (Larry) Crusan and, niece, Linda Thomas and several great-nephews. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Pastor Cassandra who visited regularly, the staff at Highview at the Woodlands for the exceptional care they provided to mom and dad, Sue Peterson and Reita Baird from Prince of Peace for providing meals to mom and dad during the last few years. Memorial Visitation on Friday, May 3, 2024 from 5 pm to 7 pm at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 2336 Freeport Rd. Rockton. Additional visitation on Saturday, May 4, 2024 from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., followed by a Memorial Ceremony at 12 p.m. at the church. Pastor Cassandra Langr will officiate.
