Michael John Winter, 62, of Stillman Valley passed away on April 5, 2026. Born June 23, 1963 in Dubuque, IA; son of Mark and Ann (Jaeger) Winter. Graduate of Maquoketa Valley High School, class of 1981. He obtained his Bachelor's Degree in 1986 and his Master's of Science in 1987 from Iowa State University. In 1999 he graduated with his Master's of Business Administration from Rockford University. He was employed at the Byron Nuclear Plant as an Engineer prior to his retirement. Mike was united in marriage to Claire Sprandel on June 10, 1989. Mike enjoyed traveling and playing golf in his free time. He was also a talented woodworker. His family treasures the beautiful grandfather clock, rocking horse, roll top desk and handcrafted high chair he made. Survived by his wife, Claire Winter; children, Christina (Steve) Haake, Elizabeth (Ken) Link, Thomas (Olive) Winter, Katherine Winter, Samuel Winter; grandchildren, Theodore Haake, Victor Haake, Frederick Haake, William Haake, Ivy Winter; siblings, Kathy (Bob) Sabers, Kevin (Karin) Winter, Karla O'Connor, Julie (Joe) Freeland, Joseph (JoAnn) Winter; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceded in death by his parents. Visitation on Saturday, April 11, 2026 from 8:30 am until 10:00 am at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N. Main St. Rockford, followed by a funeral service at 10:00 am. Pastor Thomas Rosa will officiate. Interment in Casper Creek Natural Cemetery, 810 S. Pilot Knob Rd. Galena.
