Michael William Merchut, 67, of Rockford died on February 15, 2021.  Born April 17, 1953 in Chicago, son of Edward and Louise (Sassano) Merchut.  United in Marriage to Mary Procanin on July 17, 1982 in Elgin. He was formerly employed as an auto mechanic.   Mike was a member of the Old Gear Heads Car Club.  His Chevy Nova was his baby.  Survived by his loving wife, Mary; children, Jamie (fiancé Paul Newberry) Torres, Tiffany (KD) Ahmed, Ryan (Christina) Merchut; grandchildren, Junior, Adrianna, Nico, Lina, Lonzo, Peanut, Jayden, Vanni, Jianna; siblings, Darlene (Steve) Lovett, Angie (Tom) Baumgarten, Ken (Kim) Merchut; sisters-in-law, Sherrie Merchut, Lori (Vic) Murphy, brother-in-law, Michael Procanin; pets, Rascal, Harmony and CoCo; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Edward and Ricky Merchut; son, Michael Merchut II; mother and father-in-law, Judith and Ed Bryant; and pets Sarge and Oreo.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Funeral & Cremation Services, 4301 N.
