Michael Guy Highfill, 50 of Rockford died on Friday May 27, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in his home, surrounded by his loving family. Mike was born on August 17, 1960 in Rockford, son of Lowell and Janice Highfill. He attended Rockford schools, where he met his wife of 30 years, Sue at Auburn High School. They were united in marriage on August 2, 1980. Mike loved spending time with his family and had a circle of close friends. He was employed by DHL as a Delivery Manager, and worked beside his wife. Mike loved his animals, enjoyed being outside, and taking long walks, watching birds and squirrels. He was a car buff, who enjoyed spending time at car shows and at cruises with his Mustangs. He is survived by his wife, Sue; children, Fawna and Joshua Highfill; grandson, Brevin Highfill; all of Rockford; siblings, Christine "Autumn" (Doug) Fell of Rockford, Kathie (Tom) Race of Cummings, GA, Julie (Ron) Falconer of Rockton, Lorene "Lolly" Heisler of Rockford, Dawn (Frank) McWilliams of Pecatonica, special brother, James (Lori Enerson) Barton of Nekoosa, WI; mother in law Mary Nelson of Rockford, brother in laws, Robin (Angela) of Rockford, Alan (Linda) Nelson of Belvidere; sister in law, Gail (Dan) Zeller of Rockford; numerous Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews; special friend, Robert Thompson of Rockford, as well as many very special friends from the Rock Valley Mustang Club. Preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and brother James Matthew Highfill.
