Michael A. Guffey, 72, of Rockford died on September 1, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. Born May 31, 1949 in Rockford; son of Alvin and Margaret (Peckham) Guffey. Graduate of Auburn High School. Mike obtained his Bachelor Degree in psychology from Judson University. He retired from Sundstrand, where he was employed in Aerospace Testing. Mike was a fan of the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bears. He was skilled at small engine repair, fixing lawn mowers and snow blowers for his family and friends and also generously gifting them to those in need. Mike was a hands-on father and grandfather. He'd do anything for his family. His favorite foods were popcorn and chocolate Survived by his daughters, Lora (Manny) Negrete, Keri (Stuart) Bailey and their mother, Jeri (Marshall) Dedrick; grandchildren Gabriella, Liviana and Cruz Negrete, Aleyah and Brielle Bailey; sister, Debbie (Stan) Palmer; brother-in-law, Dave Glover; nieces, Leanne (Mark) Bishop, Krystal (Tyson) Clifton, Kayla (Earl) Fleming; nephews, David Glover Jr., Jeff Glover; great-nieces and great-nephews, Marisa, Katie, Joy (Jason), Faith, KJ, Hannah, Caleb, Megan, Bethany and Josh. Preceded in death by his parents; sister, Susan Glover; and great-niece, Emily Fleming. A celebration of Mike's life will be held at a later date. Mike's family is grateful to the staff of OSF Hospital and OSF Hospice for their loving care. Memorials in his memory can be made to OSF Hospice.
