Melvin Eugene Jackson, 85, of Rockford died on April 20, 2021. Born December 18, 1935 in Rockford, son of Raymond and Lena (Kant) Jackson. Graduate of West High School. Melvin served his country proudly in the United States Marines, where he was stationed in San Diego, CA. United in marriage to Joyce Magnuson April 7, 1959. He retired from Ingersoll, where he was employed as a machinist. Melvin was a talented poker player, he played on Friday evenings at Hoffman House and worked as a dealer in tournaments. Survived by his wife, Joyce Jackson of Rockford; daughters, Marion Jackson of Rockford, Julie (Ken) Dean of Rockford; step-son, John (Peggy) Magnuson Sr.; grandchildren, Erik Jackson of Rockford, Brandon Barton of Rockton, John (Christa) Magnuson Jr. of Pecatonica, Russell Magnuson of South Beloit, Stacy Magnuson of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Greg and Aaron, and Desiree Magnuson; and special friend, Roger Hedden of Rockford.
