Melvin Walter Hill, 84, of Rockford died on April 20, 2016. Born on November 10, 1931 in Rockford, son of Steven and Florence (Bowen) Hill. Served in the United States Army. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survived by sons, Kim Hill of Rockford, Doug (Lisa) Hill of Fairlawn, VA; daughters, Julie Beeman of Rockford, Linda (Jon) Boomgarden of Huntington Beach, CA; brothers, Richard (Barbara) Hill, William Hill, Stephen (Diane) Hill, Donald Hill; sisters, Roaslie C. Munson, Karen (Bob) Harkness; grandchildren, Stacy Braitlen, Joshua Hill, Emily Hill, Jason Hill, Kelley Ewin, Nicole Kehoe, Kyle Boomgarden. Preceded in death by his parents; son, Stephen Hill and grandson, Ricky Hill. Private interment in Rock Island National Cemetery, Rock Island Grace Funeral & Cremation Services assisted the family.
