Mary Ann Witherby, 79, of Rockford died on December 27, 2013 at 6:20 p.m. at Alden Alma Nelson Manor, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on September 29, 1934 in DeKalb, daughter of Seth and Holly (Purple) Marvin. United in marriage to Richard Witherby on July 12, 1952. Mary was formerly employed at G and K Services for 8 years, Newell for 13 years and as a librarian for the Pecatonica Library. Mary loved her family, caring for them greatly in her own special way. She followed her husband's drag racing career, and enjoyed spending time in her garden, watching the Cubs and Bears and most of all seeing her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Cindy (John) Bacher, Ora (P.J.) Andrew, Rick (Judy) Witherby, Ron (Julie) Witherby; eight grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sisters, Beth Vowels, Jill Marvin, Judy (Ralph) Huge, Barb (PeeWee) Voorhies; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; husband; granddaughter, Kasey; siblings, George Marvin, Carolyn Heinzroth and Phyllis Gentry. Private Funeral Services will be held.
