Mary Josephine Saladino, 96, of Rockford died on September 20, 2017 at Fairhaven Christian Retirement Center. Born on May 3, 1921 in Rockford, daughter of Angelo and Rose (Greco) Spataro. United in Marriage to Peter J. Saladino on July 31, 1937. Formerly employed at Nelson Knitting and Pacemaker Foods at Edgebrook. Survived by grandchildren, Jennifer (Matt) Hopkins, of Rockton, Andrea Welter of Bradenton, FL, Peter J. (Pamela) Saladino of Rockford, Bryan (fiancée Traci Nicholson) Saladino of South Beloit, Nicole Saladino of Rockford; great-grandchildren, Mara Grace McClanahan, Peyton Marie Welter, Dax Angelo McClanahan, Hailey Saladino, Gracie Hopkins and Samantha Hopkins; daughters-in-law, Dottie Saladino and Jeanette Saladino, both of Rockford; numerous nieces and nephews, and beloved niece, Gracie Spataro Kasputis. Preceded in death by her husband, Peter; sons, Andrew and Angelo Saladino, and brothers, Frank, Raymond, Phillip, Sam, Joseph, Peter and special niece, Rosemarie Spataro Holcomb. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Northern Illinois Hospice in Mary's name. Funeral Mass on September 25, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church 1010 Ferguson Street, Rockford. Father James Ciaramitaro will officiate. Visitation at 9 a.m. until the time of service. Interment in Calvary Cemetery.
