Marvin James West, 71, of Rockford died November 9, 2023. Born November 28, 1951 in Dekalb; son of James and Marilyn (Allen) West. Marv attended Kirkland schools. United in marriage to Cecelia Folgate on October 21, 1971. He retired from CamCar Fastenal where he worked as a Heat Treater. Marv was a unique individual, capable of spinning tall tales; or in the words of his son, "The most unique bullshitter they've ever known." His humor and storytelling abilities were legendary. He never did anything halfway, and loved challenging the status quo at every turn. If you told Marv he couldn't do something, he'd find a way to do it; and do it better than ever before. He was interested in animal husbandry, breeding and used his creativity, intelligence and work ethic to develop beautifully colored and well tempered birds he bred. He was passionate about animal care and breeding throughout the course of his life. Marv enjoyed fishing and hunting with his son, buddies and his great-grand children in his free time. He was a very loving husband and loved his children and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His presence is greatly missed by his family and circle of friends. Survived by wife; Celia; children, Jerry (Mary) West, April West; several grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; sisters, Teressa West, Agnes (Harold) Allen; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, circle of friends; and his beloved dog and best friend, Sassy. Celebration of Marv's life will be held at a later date. Share a memory or condolence at
