Mark Robert Eugene Masterson, 58, of South Beloit, passed away on September 16, 2025.
Born August 18, 1967, in Belvidere he was the son of Lewis and Connie (Holt) Masterson Sr. Mark graduated from Hononegah High School 1985 and went on to build a career with Frontier Communications as an Equipment Installer.
Mark had a big heart and a warm presence-he touched the lives of everyone who knew him and was deeply loved by his circle of family and friends. His greatest joy was his family, especially being "Pop Pop" to his grandchildren. He cherished every moment with them and was excitedly awaiting the arrival of his first grandson.
He found peace and happiness in the outdoors, enjoying fishing, hunting, hiking, and camping. One of his favorite places in the world was his family's property in Iron River, Wisconsin, where he made countless memories. He also had a spirit of adventure, making several trips to hike in Joshua Tree National Park.
Mark is survived by his children, Kurtis Masterson and Dakota (Jordan Ellsworth) Masterson, and their mother, Andrea Twine; grandchildren, Maddi Hooper, Oliva Ellsworth, and Bo Elsworth, soon to be welcomed; his mother, Connie (James) Campbell; siblings, Luke Masterson, Deborah Masterson, and Beth Campbell; partner, Shana Kazsuk; and close friends, Stacy Mansfield, Greg LaFontaine, and Rob Trimble. He was preceded in death by his father, as well as his maternal, paternal grandparents and best friend Mike Dixon.
