Marilyn Kay Roberson, 71, of Rockford died on August 9, 2013 at PA Peterson Center for Health, after a short illness. She was born on March 19, 1942 in Jacksonville, daughter of Lloyd and Ruby (Smith) Spencer. Graduate of Alton High School and Hannibal LaGrange College, MO. Marilyn was employed at Accelerated- Rebound Physical Therapy for 15 years. She was a founding member of Ogle County Hospice, now Serenity Hospice and Home. Marilyn spent many years as a clerk, treasurer and pianist at many Southern Baptist churches throughout Illinois. Survived by her daughter, Diane Roberson of Rockford; sister, Wilma (Melvin) Crawford of Mineral Wells, TX; aunt Eva Smith of Franklin; nephews, Chris (Tammy) Crawford, Brent (Kim) Crawford; niece, Jami (Chad) Miller; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; former spouse, Spencer Roberson; and numerous family members on the Roberson side. Preceded in death by her parents; son-in-law Donald Durbin; and nephew Craig Crawford. Memorial service August 15, 2013 at 6 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 6286 Linden Rd. Rockford, visitation 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Rev. Jeremiah Griffin will officiate. Cremation rites will be accorded. Marilyn was a tissue donor with Gift of Hope.
