Lynda Gibson Johnson, 80, of Rockford died on August 3, 2022, after a 40 year battle with Scleroderma. Born October 18, 1941 in Flint, MI. Lynda graduated from high school in Flint in 1959. She attended Michigan State University, later graduating from Rockford College with a Bachelor of Arts in Fiber Arts. United in marriage to Lee Johnson on December 11, 1990. Lynda was a sweet people person, who was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her family, friends and former colleagues. Lynda retired from the Burpee Museum of Natural History where she was employed at the Education Director. Upon her retirement, she continued working part time at the Natural Land Institute. Lynda had a lifelong interest in natural science. She was incredibly intelligent, outwardly focused and passionate about nature and social causes. She was a volunteer at the Colored Sands Bird Banding Station; throughout the course of her life, she traveled to various countries and built a list of over 4,000 life birds. Lynda traveled to China with the Crane Foundation. Survived by her husband, Lee; children, Cindy Cornwel, Matthew (Marie Bricher) Cornwel, Scott Cornwel; stepchildren, Jeffrey Johnson, Paul Ray Johnson; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and a wide circle of friends near and far. Preceded in death by her parents and sister, Patricia Csyntyan. Memorial Visitation on August 20, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Grace Funeral & Cremation Services; 4301 N.
